Common issues
In many of the areas that we service as well as ones that we don’t, the presence of expansive soil has led to more than a few issues.
Expansion and contraction of the soil under and adjacent to the concrete foundation of your home is “keeping the house awake” structurally.
This becomes what amounts to an annual wet and dry cycle led by the seasonal changes and the rainfall coupled with inadequate perimeter drainage adjacent to the home. The same effect can certainly occur by means of a noteworthy plumbing event, such as a leaking pipe.
To win against expansive soil, it is important to get to the root of the term itself. Expansive soil cannot expand unless it gets wet; no water…no expansion! The whole intention is to keep a stable moisture content, high or low, so that moisture content is not constantly fluctuating.
